1st Day
Arrival in Funchal
Once landed in Funchal, we have some free time for a first taste of the capital of Madeira, known as the “Garden of the Atlantic” thanks to its “eternal spring” climate and the extraordinary wealth of flowers, trees and tropical fruits. From the airport, we head to our hotel, where an included dinner awaits us to start our experience on the island in the best possible way.
2nd day
We begin our explorations by reaching Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village, to admire Cabo Girão, the highest promontory in Europe, with spectacular views of the ocean. We continue through the Encumeada pass and stop in the suggestive “floresta de laurisilva”, a natural heritage of the island. We then arrive in São Vicente, from where we enjoy a unique view of the northern coast. Continuing along the coast, we reach Porto Moniz, famous for its enchanting natural pools among the volcanic rocks, where we stop to enjoy a typical fish-based lunch, Espada con Banana. We continue towards the Paul da Serra plateau, to then reach Madalena do Mar and take a walk among the banana plantations. The evening is free for dinner.
3rd day
In the company of a local guide, we explore this charming town with white houses arranged on a bay that slopes gently towards the ocean. Our itinerary takes us to visit the Santa Caterina Park, the historic Praça do Infante, the elegant Avenida Arriaga, the Municipal Garden, the suggestive fifteenth-century Sé Cathedral and the lively Mercado dos Lavradores, with its colorful stalls of flowers, fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. We stop for lunch in a restaurant in the old quarter, and then continue the visit with a pleasant walk. The evening is free for dinner
4th day
Today is a completely free day, ideal for relaxing or exploring the island on your own. We can choose to stroll among the characteristic white houses and flower gardens of Funchal, or take the cable car that leads to the town of Monte, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the island. In the evening, a dinner awaits us at the hotel.
5th day
We set off to discover the high peaks of the island, starting from the Poiso pass and then climbing up to Pico do Areeiro, one of the most spectacular panoramic points in Madeira, from which you can admire breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. We continue towards the picturesque town of Faial and then towards Santana, famous for its characteristic houses with colored thatched roofs, a symbol of the traditional architecture of the island. We arrive at the Portela pass, where a lunch awaits us with the local specialty, the Espetada de Carne de Vaca, a delicious skewer of grilled meat. We continue our journey to Machico, the first landing point of Portuguese navigators and the ancient capital of the archipelago, rich in history and charm. We then continue to the town of Caniçal, a well-known fishing village, until we reach the spectacular Ponta de São Lourenço, with its extraordinary cliffs overlooking the ocean. After a day full of unforgettable landscapes, we return to Funchal, where the evening is free for dinner.
6th day
Today is dedicated to relaxation or to discovering the island independently. For those who want a unique experience, we propose an optional boat excursion: we reach the Funchal seafront promenade and walk towards the tourist marina, where we board a comfortable catamaran for an unforgettable whale watching adventure. During the navigation, we will be able to observe dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, accompanied by the spectacular panorama of the Madeira coast. Upon returning, we relax with a snack on board before continuing with a visit to one of the most historic and characteristic Madeira wine cellars on the island, where we will discover the secrets of this ancient production and have the opportunity to taste some of its prized variants. We then return to the hotel for an evening with a free dinner, ideal for trying the local specialties in one of the city's restaurants
7th day
In the morning, we start our day by visiting the famous Cristo Rei de Garajau, an imposing statue that dominates the sea and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Madeira coast. Afterwards, we head to the Botanical Garden, located above the city of Funchal, a true green paradise that is home to over 2,500 exotic plants from all continents. Here, we can walk through flower-lined paths and admire the beauty of rare plant species, immersed in an atmosphere of tranquility and nature.
We continue our journey to the Tropical Park, an enchanting place where the cultural and historical influences of the Portuguese in Asia, Africa and South America intertwine. Here, we can discover a wide variety of plants and themed gardens, accompanied by suggestive paths and panoramic views.
After this immersion in nature, we reach Pico do Barcelos, where we stop for lunch in a typical restaurant, enjoying the delights of local cuisine while enjoying the view of the surrounding landscape.
In the afternoon, we head to the Eira do Serrado pass, a spectacular viewpoint from which we can admire the wonderful panorama of Curral das Freiras, a valley framed by majestic mountains that the locals affectionately call “the volcano”. The view of this enchanting place, with its traditions and history, will leave us breathless. At the end of the day, a delicious dinner is included to round off a day full of emotions and discoveries.
8th day
Our journey to this enchanting island is coming to an end, after having explored 2/3 of its wonders and being enchanted by its vibrant colors and breathtaking landscapes. We have had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty of Madeira, discovering its rich culture, its lush gardens and spectacular cliffs. However, it is clear that there is still much to explore and discover in this corner of paradise in the Atlantic, with hidden corners and fascinating traditions just waiting to be revealed.
Now, after this unforgettable adventure, it is time to say goodbye to this little pearl on the Atlantic. We are accompanied to the airport with a private transfer, in time to board the return flight to Italy, taking with us precious memories and the promise to return to further explore the wonders of Madeira.
